Supplier Link PDF Proper Cleaning for Riofoto Mirrors: STEAM AUTOCLAVE UNIT: Mirrors should be washed by hand with a germicidal soap containing 2% chlorhexidine, then rinsed and dried immediately with a soft tissue or cloth, prior to being sterilized in an autoclave machine. This will eliminate saliva stains. Dry thoroughly, because wet spots may permanently etch into the surface during sterilization. Wrap each mirror in a few pieces of tissue paper (gauze or a lint-free surgical towels are not recommended because they may leave a fabric pattern imprint on the glass), and place into an autoclave bag. The tissue paper will absorb the steam from the sterilization process and water/steam drops will not form on the mirror. Place in a steam autoclave unit and process according to the cycle times recommended by the manufacturer. COLD STERILIZATION: Mirrors should be washed by hand with a germicidal soap containing 2% chlorhexidine, then rinsed and dried immediately with a soft tissue or cloth, prior to being submerged in cold sterilization solution. Some solutions may damage the mirror surface. For guaranteed results, we recommend using “Medica 28 Plus”, a 3% Glutaraldehyde reusable solution that has been fully tested and guaranteed safe for Riofoto Mirrors. DRY HEAT STERILIZATION: After washing, rinsing and drying as described above, place mirrors in unit carefully, away from metal instruments or rough surfaces and follow instructions recommended by the manufacturer. Please note we completed our tests at 370°F (188°C)."
